SunSetup ("we", "us") operates this website and matches homeowners with solar installers. This policy explains what personal information we handle and why. If anything here is unclear, email info@sunsetup.com and ask.
What we collect
Only what the questionnaire asks for, plus basic technical data:
- Contact details — first name, phone number, email address.
- Property details — ZIP code, property address, ownership status, roof sun exposure, monthly electric bill range.
- Documents you choose to upload — for example a photo or PDF of a recent electric bill.
- Consent record — whether you agreed to be contacted, and when.
- Technical and campaign data — the page you landed on, the referring site, and any campaign parameters (utm_*, gclid, fbclid) in the URL.
For solar installers applying to our partner programme, we also collect company name, role, install volume, years in business and service area.
We do not ask for and do not want government identifiers, financial account numbers, or information about children. Please don't include them in an upload.
Why we use it
- To produce your solar savings estimate.
- To contact you about that estimate, by the methods you consented to.
- To introduce you to vetted installers who serve your area, where you have consented.
- To detect fraud and abuse, and to keep the service working.
- To measure, in aggregate, which pages and campaigns bring people to us.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information into open lead markets, and we do not pass it to companies you haven't agreed to hear from. We share it with:
- Solar installers you are matched with, when you have consented to be contacted. They are contractually required to use your details only to discuss your solar project.
- Service providers who host the site, deliver email and text messages, and store submissions on our behalf.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to.
Some US state privacy laws define "sale" or "sharing" broadly enough to cover passing details to a matched installer for their own marketing. If you would rather we did not, use the contact details below and we will honour that.
Calls, texts and emails
By ticking the consent box you agree that we and our vetted solar partners may contact you at the number and address you provided — including by automated dialling or pre-recorded message, and by SMS. Message and data rates may apply. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.
You can stop it at any time:
- Reply STOP to any text message.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Say so on a call, or email info@sunsetup.com.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no advertising cookies of its own. It uses your browser's local storage to keep your answers safe if a submission fails, and — where the site owner has enabled it — a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count page views and funnel steps. If Google Analytics is enabled, IP anonymisation is on. Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
The address field can use Google Places autocomplete. When enabled, what you type into that one field is sent to Google to return suggestions, under Google's privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to serve you and to meet record-keeping obligations — as a working rule, [24] months from your last contact with us, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Consent records are kept longer where required to demonstrate compliance. Uploaded documents are deleted once your estimate is complete.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
- Have it corrected if it is wrong.
- Have it deleted.
- Opt out of its sale or sharing, and of targeted advertising.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of them, email info@sunsetup.com with the phone number or email address you gave us. We respond within 45 days, and we'll tell you if we need longer. You can use an authorised agent.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and submissions are transmitted encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, so please don't send us anything more sensitive than the questionnaire asks for. If you believe your information has been exposed, tell us immediately.
Children
This service is for homeowners and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted details, contact us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to anyone who has given us contact details.
